A parliament of dingo dogs
tears at the little body
of the dear country
with an apocalyptic
munching—reflecting
the madness, the mindless
breath no one can drive them
away even the poorest
aboriginal is like the meagre
food that he consumes, agitated
by terrible skies, and the unease
shadows the table, shadows
the house with the whining
of dogs and jackals there
beside the devouring slopes
where dead faces rest
from today and yesterday—
unformulated unutterable
devourings that fade away.
The dingo dogs frolic cheerfully.
